The Challenge
Accounting professionals frequently encounter complex tax scenarios that require interpreting Australian tax law, applying accounting standards, and ensuring compliance with ATO guidelines. This process often involves consulting legislation, internal knowledge bases, or senior team members, leading to delays and inconsistent advice. Additionally, firms must manage sensitive financial data, making it difficult to adopt cloud-based AI tools due to privacy, confidentiality, and regulatory concerns. As a result, there is a gap between the need for fast, reliable insights and the ability to securely leverage modern AI systems within accounting workflows.
Our Approach
We are developing a locally hosted AI assistant designed specifically for Australian accounting and tax use cases.
The system is built on a curated knowledge base that includes Australian tax legislation, ATO rulings, and firm-specific accounting practices. Using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), the AI provides context-aware answers that are grounded in verified sources rather than generic responses.
To ensure data security and compliance, the entire system is deployed locally within the firm's infrastructure, allowing sensitive financial information to remain fully contained.
The AI is capable of answering accounting and tax-related queries, explaining complex concepts, and acting as a second opinion for professionals. It can also provide structured reasoning, reference relevant guidelines, and adapt responses based on the firm's internal standards.
Over time, the system can be expanded to integrate with internal documents, workflows, and client data, further enhancing its accuracy and usefulness.
